The IWM invites applications for the position of a

Researcher / Post-Doctoral Position(m/f/d)

Part-time 50%, fixed term for 1 year (potential of extension), starting 01/2027 or later (on agreement)

to join the Aesthetics and Learning Lab (ALL. The research focus of the Aesthetic and Learning Lab is to understand how aesthetic experiences can be a source of learning and what can be learned from aesthetic experience. Another research area is conducting empirical work on the exploration of experiences within museums. Current research of the lab deals, for example, with investigating how art interest and art knowledge can affect such experiences. These topics are studied from a psychological, psychometrical and interdisciplinary perspective.


Your tasks:

  • Head an independent research project on the intersection of aesthetics and learning
  • Support on-going research projects
  • Teaching
  • Develop an independent research profile to attract competitive third-party funding
  • Design and analysis of experimental studies
  • Writing scientific publications documenting your work

Your profile:

  • Doctorate in psychology (either completed or near completion)
  • Research focus on empirical aesthetics
  • Interest in transfer and application of the results of your own research
  • Experience in writing grant proposals is an asset
  • Openness towards Open Science
  • Teaching experience is strongly recommended
  • Very good command of English; knowledge of German is an asset
