The IWM is establishing a new research lab with the appointment of a temporary W2 professorship as of 1 December. Prof. Dr Marlit Annalena Lindner will head the Leibniz Research Group on Digitalisation and Education.
The 36-year-old researcher, who previously worked at the Leibniz Institute for Science and Mathematics Education (IPN) in Kiel, has already achieved notable successes. Since 2019, she has led the Leibniz junior research group "COMET", which she successfully secured through the SAW funding procedure. In this project, she and her team investigated different design principles for learning and performance diagnostic materials, which are crucial for creating individualised or adaptive learning environments in digital settings that can be applied, for example, in schools. Topics such as computer-based adaptive performance feedback and the use of multimedia elements, such as combinations of static and animated text and image displays, play a central role in this context.
Marlit Lindner will continue this research at the IWM from 1 December 2022. Her work fits seamlessly into the institute's existing research landscape. "With Marlit Lindner, we have successfully recruited a talented young professor who will use state-of-the-art methods to investigate digital teaching and learning in schools and universities. She is a perfect match for the IWM’s profile," IWM Director Ulrike Cress is pleased to say.
Marlit Lindner is also looking forward to her next six years at the IWM: "The IWM offers an excellent infrastructure for realising my research plans, and I am very much looking forward to exchanging ideas with my colleagues in Tübingen and exploring new opportunities for collaboration."
