Professorship of Informal Learning

Eva Specker has accepted the call to the Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien as Professor of Informal Learning. She will start at the IWM on 1 April 2025 and head a lab.

‘We are delighted to have another excellent scientist at our institute in Prof Specker,’ says IWM Director Prof Dr Ulrike Cress.

Eva Specker completed her doctorate at the University of Vienna in 2019 on the topic of ‘Psychological Aesthetic Effects of Lines and Colors: An Interdisciplinary Inquiry’ and has been working there as a postdoc ever since. Since 2022, she has headed a junior research group funded by the FWF (the Austrian equivalent of the DFG). Her research focuses on the question of how aesthetic experiences play a role in learning, particularly in museum and other informal learning contexts. She is looking forward to her work in Tübingen: ‘I'm particularly looking forward to the fruitful dialogue with my colleagues at the IWM,’ says the 33-year-old.
