28 May 2025

Land of Ideas, the Deutsche Telekom Foundation and the Dieter Schwarz Foundation putting out a call to schools throughout Germany to take part in the AI School Prize 2025. IWM Director Prof Dr Ulrike Cress is chair of the jury for the AI School Prize.

The prize honours innovative schools that are already successfully using artificial intelligence in everyday school life. Both holistic school strategies and targeted applications in individual subject areas are being sought for the competition. The prize is awarded to schools that successfully use AI for teaching, student development or school organisation.

Applications possible until 10 October

All primary and secondary schools in Germany can apply for the AI School Award until October 10, 2025.

Aim of the prize

The aim of the award is to encourage schools to use AI consciously and responsibly. On the other hand, successful concepts should be made visible and encourage imitation.

‘I am convinced that AI offers a wide range of potential for improving our education system - for example, for the individual promotion of learning processes, for relieving the burden on teachers or for school development as a whole,’ says IWM Director Ulrike Cress. She also wrote a blog article on the School Award website in which she discusses the potential and dangers of AI in everyday school life.
