Focus on AI in the classroom
How can AI enrich teaching? And what digital skills do students need? These questions were the focus of the visit by Sandra Boser, Member of the State Parliament and State Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs of Baden-Württemberg, to the Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM) in Tübingen on 19 November. In the Future Innovation Space, she learned about current research projects on AI in schools and teacher training, from adaptive learning systems to the use of large language models. ‘It is impressive to see the level of commitment and scientific depth with which new digital approaches to education are being developed here,’ said Boser.
She then visited the AI Makerspace Tübingen, where science, start-ups and civil society work together to develop and test AI applications for education.
