Professorship for Digital Education
Education researcher Prof. Dr Garvin Brod will take up the Professorship for Digital Education at the IWM on 1 March 2026. Brod joins the institute from the Leibniz Institute for Research and Information in Education (DIPF) in Frankfurt, where he most recently headed a research group on cognitive development and learning support. At the IWM, he will establish his own lab, contribute to the further development of the Future Innovation Space, and lead the Digital Teaching Lab (TüDiLab).
“With his outstanding research and international visibility, Garvin Brod is a tremendous asset to the IWM – and to Tübingen as a centre of education,” says Prof. Dr Ulrike Cress, Director of the IWM. “His perspective on early educational stages and his focus on self-regulated learning complement our research profile perfectly.”
“I am very much looking forward to the new opportunities to further develop digital learning offerings together with partners in the field – evidence-based, child-centred, and future-oriented,” Brod says about his move.
